If you are looking for an answer to the question What is Artificial Intelligence? and you only have a minute, then here's the definition the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence offers on its home page: "the scientific understanding of the mechanisms underlying thought and intelligent behavior and their embodiment in machines."
However, if you are fortunate enough to have more than a minute, then please get ready to embark upon an exciting journey exploring AI (but beware, it could last a lifetime) …
To drive business agility and accelerate IT transformation, an integrated hybrid multicloud and AI strategy is key. IT transformation is the basis of competitive advantage for modern enterprises. Your IT infrastructure determines how quickly you can respond to new market opportunities, how fast you scale, and how well you can serve your customers. As the digital economy continues to rapidly expand and evolve, organizations must be able to match its pace. Cloud computing has proven to be instrumental in powering digital transformation that is crucial to achieving true business agility, and hybrid multicloud--the next generation of cloud--is the most flexible and effective IT architecture for innovation.
Such early and continuous connections were key. Leveraging commercial technology must be strategic. During this critical early period, core technologies are developed, standards are created, and rollout plans are shaped. When the right experts can connect early in the process, the right technologies can be applied to the right mission needs. Bringing two partners together isn't guaranteed to lead to innovation.
Numerous studies have shown that trained dogs can detect many kinds of disease -- including lung, breast, ovarian, bladder, and prostate cancers, and possibly Covid-19 -- simply through smell. In some cases, involving prostate cancer for example, the dogs had a 99 percent success rate in detecting the disease by sniffing patients' urine samples. But it takes time to train such dogs, and their availability and time is limited. Scientists have been hunting for ways of automating the amazing olfactory capabilities of the canine nose and brain, in a compact device. Now, a team of researchers at MIT and other institutions has come up with a system that can detect the chemical and microbial content of an air sample with even greater sensitivity than a dog's nose.
It turns out that Apple's iOS 14.5 update won't actually let you change your default music service that you use with Siri. Beta users had originally noticed that it appeared as if early versions of the update might allow you to change the default service that launches when you ask Siri to play a song. This meant that rather than specifying a third-party music app with each request, Siri would remember your preference and launch with the service you had originally specified. While all that still seems to be the case, TechCrunch reports that Apple has apparently "clarified" that it "doesn't consider this feature the equivalent to'setting a default.'" That's because the feature relies on "Siri intelligence," which can track your music-listening habits over time and predict which app you're more likely to want at that moment.
The SpaceX team is clearing a mangled Starship from the launch after the rocket exploded following its first high latitude test Wednesday evening. The crew returned to the site the day after Starship Serial Number 10 (SN10) exploded 10 minutes following its'soft landing' and they brought along some help – Zeus the robotic dog. The yellow, four-legged robot was spotted prancing around SpaceX's testing facility in Boca Chica, Texas Thursday as it inspected the aftermath of the fallen rocket. Images of the wreckage have also surfaced on Twitter, showing the crushed body of SN10 and smashed Raptor engines – each of which costs $150 million. SpaceX returned to the site the day after Starship Serial Number 10 (SN10) exploded 10 minutes following its'soft landing' and they brought along some help – Zeus the robotic dog SpaceX has yet to reveal what caused SN10 to burst into flames, but some speculate it was caused by landing legs that did not deploy.
It was 9:00 P.M. on a Monday in South Carolina, and the Charleston County Republican Party was ninety minutes into its February meeting, when the open-comments portion of the session began. Maurice Washington, the Party chairman and a former city-council member, invited a newcomer to the microphone at the front of the room filled with seventy members and guests. She identified herself as Elizabeth Rodi, announced that she had attended Donald Trump's rally on January 6th, and declared media reports about the Capitol insurrection false. "The people that were there were Antifa and Black Lives Matter. They were identified through facial recognition," she claimed.
Time-series analysis has been studied for more than a hundred years, however, the extraordinary growth of data available from numerous sources and more frequent growth of data alongside the growth of computer power (GPU & Multicore) makes the analysis of large-scale time-series data possible today in a way that was not previously practical. The use of time-series data has been traditionally linked to sectors where time is not just a metric but a primary axis, such as in finance, Industrial IoT, and energy. However, in the last 10 years, it is starting to be generally used in other sectors such as marketing, gambling, or any other sector where performance monitoring and time-series analysis is needed. There are three main solutions in the ecosystem to treat, analyze, and visualize time-series data. These are Time-series Databases, Time-Series Data Analytics Solutions, and Machine Learning Platforms.
Machine learning provides more and more powerful tools for data analytics. On the other hand, security and privacy attacks increasingly involve data. Therefore, machine learning and security & privacy naturally intersect with each other as they both involve data, and there are many interesting questions at the intersections: i) How machine learning impacts security and privacy analytics design? In this talk, I will first talk about machine learning for security and privacy in social networks, particularly, graph-based collective classification to detect fake accounts in social networks. A long-standing challenge in collective classification is that existing methods cannot learn accurate edge weights, thus resulting in limited detection performance in practice.
Chinese social media titan ByteDance Ltd. is investing in local autonomous driving startup QCraft Inc., according to people familiar with the matter, another sign of the blurring of boundaries between car companies and Big Tech. The owner of Tiktok is investing in QCraft's latest fundraising round of at least $25 million, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the discussions are private. QCraft's technology is being trialed in minibuses in parts of China. A ByteDance spokesperson had no immediate comment. A representative for QCraft declined to comment.
