This comes at a time when many are already participating in and benefitting from virtual activities that otherwise would not be possible due to constraints of distance, time or cost. In enabling new opportunities for virtual rather than in-person instruction, the metaverse has the power to transform access to education and the way we learn. I am thoroughly enjoying this conference. It's really put together really well and I really enjoy it. So what happened was I was at a developer conference. I was a full stack C# engineer and I'd always been really interested in AI and machine learning, but it always seemed scary and out of reach. I had even tried to read some books on it and I thought, "Well, this might be just too much for me or too complicated or I just can't do this." So I went to this talk by Jennifer Marsman and she did this amazing talk on, Would You Survive the Titanic Sinking? She used this product that's called Azure Machine Learning Designer.

Despite its wide adoption, I find that there is a lack of articles with detailed explanation in this topic. Nvidia leaves a 'paper' trail

Groundbreaking research has always been an important aspect of SIGGRAPH, as scientists and researchers present the latest industry advancements to conference-goers. So, the fact that Nvidia, in collaboration with top academic researchers at 14 universities, will be presenting a record number (16) of research papers at this year's conference is astounding. When a reinforcement learning model is used to develop a physics-based animated character, the AI typically learns just one skill at a time: walking, running, or perhaps cartwheeling. But researchers from UC Berkeley, the University of Toronto, and Nvidia have created a framework that enables AI to learn a whole repertoire of skills--demonstrated with a warrior character who can wield a sword, use a shield, and get back up after a fall. Achieving these smooth, lifelike motions for animated characters is usually tedious and labor-intensive, with developers starting from scratch to train the AI for each new task.


AI solves complex physics problems by looking for signs of symmetry

"There are many, many cases in the history of science where people thought things were more complicated than they actually were because they hadn't found the most simple description of it," says Max Tegmark at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).


Should I use offline RL or imitation learning?

Offline reinforcement learning allows learning policies from previously collected data, which has profound implications for applying RL in domains where running trial-and-error learning is impractical or dangerous, such as safety-critical settings like autonomous driving or medical treatment planning. In such scenarios, online exploration is simply too risky, but offline RL methods can learn effective policies from logged data collected by humans or heuristically designed controllers. Prior learning-based control methods have also approached learning from existing data as imitation learning: if the data is generally "good enough," simply copying the behavior in the data can lead to good results, and if it's not good enough, then filtering or reweighting the data and then copying can work well. Several recent works suggest that this is a viable alternative to modern offline RL methods.
