Machine Learning Superior to Logistic Risk Scores for Predicting Mortality Risk After TAVI - The Cardiology Advisor

#artificialintelligence

Machine learning was found to be superior to logistic risk scores in predicting intrahospital all-cause mortality after transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), according to study results published in Clinical Research in Cardiology. Current strategies for identifying patients eligible for TAVI rely on risk assessment tools such as the Society of Thoracic Surgeon's Risk Score (STS score). The predictive power of these tools is poor, and improved options for risk stratification of TAVI patients are needed. In this retrospective analysis of data from 451 patients, investigators aimed to evaluate whether machine learning models could be used to predict clinical outcomes for patients after TAVI. A total of 83 features, including patient demographics, comorbidities, laboratory data, electro- and echocardiogram findings, and computed tomography (CT) results, were used to train and test the predictive models.

Turtle One Announces Listing of HYPRdat Patent for Sale on Allied Security Trust

#artificialintelligence

Turtle One Inc. recently announced it had listed its full patent for HYPRdat on Allied Security Trust. The HYPRdat algorithm is a completely new approach that replaces B-Tree search architecture by mathematically calculating data rather than performing alphanumeric comparisons. The increased accessed speed demonstrated by HYPRDAT has demonstrably outpaced current B-Tree models in documented third-party tests. AST is a trusted member-driven cooperative that provides a safe platform, forum, and risk mitigation services for tech companies and tech patents. Full details of the HYPRdat patent are available for review online.

Scientists discover details of vision vary from person to person

Daily Mail - Science & tech

Two people looking at the exact same scene before them may perceive it differently as a result of a so-called'fingerprint of misperception'. Researchers at the University of California Berkeley found natural variation in the inherent visual ability to pinpoint the exact location and size of objects. A series of experiments on nine individuals found'dramatic differences' in the ability to resolve fine details as well as discrepancies in judging location and size. The differences are due to how the brain processes visual stimuli, the academics believe, but the exact neural network responsible for the variation remains unknown. 'We assume our perception is a perfect reflection of the physical world around us, but this study shows that each of us has a unique visual fingerprint,' study lead author Miss Zixuan Wang, a UC Berkeley doctoral student in psychology, told Berkeley News.

Prince William, Prince Harry are keeping Zoom chats formal due to security concerns, source claims

FOX News

Prince William and his younger brother Prince Harry are reconnecting after the "Megxit" bombshell that rocked Kensington Palace -- but the royal brothers may have one new obstacle to tackle. "The biggest problem now is security and not just outside security but within the boundaries of calls, Zooms and Skypes," U.K.-based royal correspondent Neil Sean told Fox News. "You have to think that while Harry and Meghan were here in the U.K. there were security measures in place to make sure that private chats over Zoom and so forth remained that -- private," a palace insider told Sean. "Harry is [now] living in [a new house] and exposed to all kinds of mishaps security-wise." The palace insider alleged conversations between William and Harry have been formal out of caution that private chats could be leaked to the press.
