If you are looking for an answer to the question What is Artificial Intelligence? and you only have a minute, then here's the definition the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence offers on its home page: "the scientific understanding of the mechanisms underlying thought and intelligent behavior and their embodiment in machines."
However, if you are fortunate enough to have more than a minute, then please get ready to embark upon an exciting journey exploring AI (but beware, it could last a lifetime) …
You've seen the TV ads for Amazon's Alexa-enabled devices, and you know you can ask her to do, well, just about anything. What really is Alexa, though, and how can she make your life easier? Alexa is Amazon's own smart assistant and can be found on any Alexa-enabled device. This can be a smart speaker, like the Echo Dot, the Echo Plus, or the Echo; or a smart display device, such as the Echo Show or the Echo Spot. There are a handful of other Amazon devices that use Alexa, such as the Amazon Fire Stick.
For iPhone users who don't want to venture far to control their smart homes, look no further than Apple HomeKit. Like Amazon Alexa or the Google Assistant, you can use HomeKit to control and command your favorite HomeKit-compatible smart devices. Apple HomeKit isn't compatible with quite as many devices as the aforementioned digital assistants, but unlike smart home systems such as Samsung SmartThings, it doesn't require a specific hub to configure. All you need to get started is to scope out the compatible hardware--door locks, smart bulbs, and so on--and once these gadgets are synced up, you can walk through the door and ask Siri to turn on the lights! The Apple Home app lets you control connected devices.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has always been a topic of debate--is it good for us? Are we walking towards a better future or an inevitable doom? According to an on-going research program by McKinsey Global Institute, every occupation includes multiple types of activities, and each has a different requirement for automation. Almost all occupations have a partial automation potential. And so, almost half of all the work done by humans can eventually be taken over by a high intelligence computer.
Despite perceived employee concerns, US business leaders are moving ahead with adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) in the enterprise, according to a Thursday report from Genesys. By 2022, 60% of US company leaders said they expect to be using AI or advanced automation to improve operations, staffing, budgeting, or performance--an increase from the 24% who said they are already doing so. Of the 303 US employers surveyed, 57% said they were enthusiastic about new workplace tech tools including AI and bots. Some 32% said they believe AI enables companies to achieve goals faster, more effectively, and for less money. Another 25% said they believe AI allows employees to become more productive, and feel more valuable, the survey found.
Cathy Hackl, Futurist and Co-Author of'Marketing New Realities: An Introduction to VR & AR Marketing, Branding & Communications', writes about AR and explores how AI is shaping up the e-commerce and retail industry with delivering customer experience like never before. E-commerce is hotter than ever and shows no signs of slowing down. The flip side of this success is that everyone is selling their wares online, often with the same e-commerce set up. You know the drill: search, browse, images, descriptions, shopping cart, rinse, repeat, and often return. Moreover, when the shopping experience is this generic, why not just do all your shopping online?
While 2018 saw the artificial intelligence sales revolution beginning to gain momentum, the applications were limited. In 2018, the percentage increased by a mere 2% to 53% adoption. This year, artificial intelligence will increasingly play a vital role in sales organizations. One of the most profound implications will be in the context of CRMs. CRMs have long struggled to gain the favor of sales professionals.

And sometimes provides better analytics to make wise decisions. It's no more fictional, we now living in a world where machines are intelligent and are easing our lives.
