A former executive at TikTok's parent company, ByteDance, has alleged that the Chinese Communist party accessed user data from the social video app belonging to Hong Kong protesters and civil rights activists. Yintao Yu, a former head of engineering at ByteDance's US operation, claimed in a legal filing that a committee of Communist party members accessed TikTok data that included the users' network information, Sim card identifications and IP addresses in a bid to identify the individuals and their locations. The claims, in a wrongful dismissal lawsuit brought by Yu in a California court and reported by the Wall Street Journal, also allege the party accessed TikTok users' communications, monitored Hong Kong users who uploaded protest-related content and that Beijing-based ByteDance maintained a "backdoor channel" for the party to access US user data. Yu alleges in the filing that members of a Communist party committee inside ByteDance had access to a "superuser" credential which was also called a "God credential" and allowed them to view all data collected by ByteDance. The filing adds that when Yu was at ByteDance, between August 2017 and November 2018, TikTok stored all users' direct messages, search histories and content viewed by users.

Adults over age 60 who want to stave off memory loss could benefit from taking a daily multivitamin supplement, suggests a recent study from Columbia University in New York and Brigham and Women's Hospital/Harvard in Boston. "Daily multivitamin supplementation improved memory in older adults after one year, an effect that was sustained, on average, over the three years of follow up," Adam M. Brickman, PhD, professor of neuropsychology at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, told Fox News Digital. During the study -- published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition -- more than 3,500 adults over age 60 were randomly assigned to take either a daily multivitamin or a placebo for a three-year period. At the end of each year, the participants completed self-administered cognitive tests to determine the strength of their memory. After the first year, those taking the multivitamin showed memory improvement compared to the placebo group -- an effect that continued over the entire course of the study.

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau issued a warning on Tuesday on generative AI chatbots being used by banks. The agency says it's received "numerous" complaints from customers who have interacted with the chatbots and have failed to receive "timely, straightforward" answers to their questions.
