Amazon's Smart Thermostat is back on sale at its lowest price ever

Mashable

SAVE $12: The Amazon Smart Thermostat is on sale for only $47.99 (originally $59.99) as of April 19. Amazon brought some serious heat to the smart home space when it debuted its Smart Thermostat last fall: It's compatible with Alexa, it's easy to install, and it's Energy Star-certified to help you save some money on your heating and cooling bills (about $50/year on average). It also doesn't hurt that it's normally half the price of Google's entry-level Nest Thermostat. We say "normally" because it's even cheaper than usual ahead of Earth Day: As of April 19, you could grab an Amazon Smart Thermostat on sale for just $47.99 (or 20% off its $59.99 MSRP). Data on the price-tracking site camelcamelcamel shows that this is an all-time low it's only hit twice before, so this is definitely a deal worth jumping on.

SAVE $70: This Honeywell Home smart thermostat can help you save energy and money. As of Nov. 8, it's on sale for $99, which is 41% off the original price. As cold weather creeps in, so does a higher energy bill if you're the type of person who likes to run the heat all day. You don't have to sacrifice your warmth to lower your energy costs -- you can just invest in a smart thermostat. The Honeywell Home smart WiFi thermostat is a nice choice, and as of Nov. 8, it's on sale for $99, down from $169.

Google's Nest Renew program can help you use more clean energy at home

Engadget

Google's latest effort to help you make more environmentally friendly decisions is all about your power grid. The new Nest Renew program is a suite of features that look at the times of day when the electricity feeding into your home is cleaner and turning your compatible Nest thermostats on or off accordingly. Renew arrives in a by-invitation preview in the coming weeks, and will be available for free in the continental US when it launches publicly. At the heart of Nest Renew is the understanding that at any given time, the power grid in your neighborhood contains a mix of clean and traditional energy. In the early afternoon, perhaps, there could be a higher concentration of electricity from solar sources, while a windier day could mean more power from turbines is coming through.

SAVE 20%: Whether you prefer it to be chilly indoors or warm enough to go without pants (no judgment here), Amazon's Smart Thermostat will adapt to and maintain your preferred temperature. Ever woken up sweating in the middle of the night because your blankets are suddenly too heavy and the room is suffocatingly hot? Fumbling around in the dark for the thermostat to turn down the temperature is never fun, and can involve stubbed toes and walking into walls. With the Amazon Smart Thermostat, however, you can simply ask Alexa to adjust the temperature from the comfort of your bed. The Amazon Smart Thermostat is controllable by voice or by app, or you can set the temperature before you come home so you'll be nice and comfy right away.
