The Huawei P20 Pro is the first smartphone to feature three cameras on its back. A new rumor claims that Apple is planning to bring the same camera technology to its future iPhones. An analyst believes that Apple will include a triple-camera system in one of its iPhones next year. Yuanta Securities Investment Consulting Co. analyst Jeff Pu believes that Apple will likely launch an iPhone with triple cameras in the "second half of next year." Unfortunately, no other details were given on the specifications or capabilities of the triple-camera system of the 2019 iPhone.
Oh, this is just my new smartphone. Yeah, it totally has two cameras on the back of it. The Huawei P9 (MSRP 634.99) is the newest Huawei phone to make its way stateside, and yes--the first thing you're bound to notice (other than its sleek build) is the fact that this thing has two rear-facing cameras that feature tech certified by the imaging gurus at Leica. Cameras are one of the key areas manufacturers focus on when trying to set their smartphones apart from one another, and it's easy to understand why. Now that just about everyone's ditched point-and-shoot cameras in favor of the one that's already in their pocket, smartphone camera performance is one of the easiest points of reference when potential buyers start sizing up their options.
Huawei is joining the 360-degree camera war. The Chinese electronics company has revealed that it created a 360-degree clip-on for smartphones called Honor VR Camera in collaboration with Insta 360 at an event in Beijing. Huawei is keeping its pricing and release date a secret, but it's obviously part of the company's online-focused line. The phonemaker also said the device is capable of 3K photography and seamless livestreaming. Plus, you can capture and share photos and videos as well as do livestreams through its companion app.
SEE ALSO: Huawei isn't impressed with the new iPhone's facial recognition The phone is a big departure from previous Huawei phones, all of which had significant bezels on top and bottom. A closeup photo of the camera module, also shared by Blass, reveals that this is again a Leica-branded camera, with a Summilux-H lens with an impressive f/1.6 aperture, matching the aperture of LG V30's rear camera. The company recently made fun of the iPhone 8/X's AI capabilities in a short promo video for the Huawei Mate 10. After several somewhat boring phone designs, Huawei looks to be having something interesting on its hands.
Although both share a lot of the same features, like a display notch, the Huawei P20 stands out with the inclusion of a triple-camera setup on its back. The Huawei P20 features a 5.9-inch LCD display, while the P20 Pro comes with a slightly bigger 6.3-inch OLED display. Both have the same screen resolution of 2,240 x 1,080 and a tall aspect ratio of 18.7:9. Since Apple popularized the notch with the iPhone X, Huawei is following suit by putting smaller notches on both the P20 and P20 Pro. The difference here however is that users can "remove" the notch through software.
