WhatsApp, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and more down in Turkey in apparent internet ban

Much of the internet appears to have gone down in Turkey. People in the country are having problems accessing much of the internet's biggest websites and services, including Facebook, WhatsApp, YouTube, Twitter and more. The website Down Detector confirmed problems in the country, particularly in the west. Some have reported that the sites are simply slow, but that it is still possible to access them. Others say they are down entirely.


Finding the direction of Mecca is easy now with Google's augmented reality app

Launched during Ramadan, Qibla Finder (g.co/QiblaFinder) uses augmented reality to show Muslims the fixed direction toward the Kaaba in the Grand Mosque in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. SEE ALSO: Teens are coming together to send Ramadan cards to every mosque in the U.S. Working with the device's compass and camera, the app uses the location of Kaaba (Lat 21.4224779, Long 39.8251832) and the user's current location to calculate the most direct route and the exact distance. Using the Finder is easy. Just go to the address g.co/QiblaFinder on your smartphone and move the camera until the Kaaba symbol shows up, floating in space.


Amazon's delivery drones could parachute packages to avoid landing

Amazon is toying with the idea of equipping its autonomous delivery drones with parachutes. The idea is that they would enable the flying contraptions to float packages down to the ground in situations where landing could prove tricky. The potential plans are outlined in a new US Patent and Trademark office patent spotted by CNN. PayPal sneakily hikes prices and legally prevents sellers from criticising its service

PayPal has updated its list of User Agreements to include an unusual "non-discouragement clause for sellers" designed to prevent sellers from criticising the service. It has announced a number of price hikes too, which are detailed further down the page. "In representations to your customers or in public communications, you agree not to mischaracterize PayPal as a payment method," reads the non-discouragement clause.
