More Americans Screened Over Mystery Health Issues in China

A U.S. medical team is screening more Americans in southern China as the State Department confirmed evacuating government workers who experienced unexplained health issues like those that have hurt U.S. personnel in Cuba.

Imagine a world where affordable, quality health care is available to every person, and where infectious disease and infant and maternal mortality are as rare in the poorest parts as they are in wealthier countries. The world has already come a long way toward meeting this goal. But to finish the job, we need to change our thinking. To be sure, the incidence of child mortality and cases of deadly infectious diseases have dropped dramatically around the world. For example, polio, which once paralyzed a thousand children every day, has been eliminated from all but three countries, with just 33 cases last year.

Rutgers, RWJBarnabas Health Launching Academic Health System

RWJBarnabas, which owns 11 acute-care hospitals and several other facilities in the state, will initially contribute $100 million and then more than $1 billion over 20 years to expand education and research. It also will pay for construction of a clinical and research building for the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey and an ambulatory care center, both in New Brunswick.
