Artificial Intelligence - what problems can it solve?

#artificialintelligence

"We are in the business of solving the really hard problems" So said Shanker Trevedi, SVP Enterprise Business for the tech giant NVIDIA when he opened a day of presentations hosted at Odgers Berndtson's London office recently. The event was a showcase of disruptive start-ups innovating through AI and deep learning to tackle problems in the healthcare sector. The event was part of a series that Odgers Berndtson is running in partnership with technology company NVIDIA as part of their Inception Program. The programme aims to take start-ups using NVIDIA technology and machine learning to the next level of their success. Odgers Berndtson's partnership on the events – known as'Inception Connect' – aims to expose this innovation to new audiences.

StradVision Joins NVIDIA Inception Program as Premier Partner

India: American technology major Nvidia has launched the Nvidia Inception programme in India, in recognition of the country's budding innovation ecosystem in Artificial Intelligence (AI). Inception is a virtual incubator programme to support startups with revolutionary ideas in AI. Members will receive a custom set of benefits, from hardware grants and marketing support to training with deep learning experts. The Inception Programme was launched in India at the inaugural Nvidia Emerging Companies Summit India, part of the GPU Technology Conference (GTCx), a platform for the brightest minds and greatest ideas in GPU computing. The momentum around AI among Indian innovators is so significant that, at launch, the Inception Programme already has close to 100 Indian startups as members.

NVIDIA's AI Inception Program

By happy circumstance, Santa Clara-based chip maker NVIDIA finds itself in the position of being an artificial intelligence (AI) startup king maker. The company designs and manufactures the entire computing platform for deep learning, the fastest growing field in AI, building everything from graphics processing units (GPUs) to software to systems purpose-built for deep learning. As the name might suggest, GPUs were developed to improve the computer graphics experience by offloading certain computationally intense image processing tasks from the standard central processing unit (CPU). The particular strength of a GPU is performing large numbers of parallel floating point calculations. This helps computer screens to increase in detail and complexity without sacrificing system performance, and modern gaming would not be possible without it.
