The Knoxville News Sentinel cited the personnel file of geography professor Henri Grissino-Mayer in reporting that he submitted his resignation on Aug. 31, less than a month after the university began receiving "a series of reports about inappropriate conduct" including an intimate relationship with a student.
UPDATE: Freeman has responded to the allegations. Actor Morgan Freeman has been accused of sexually inappropriate behavior by eight women, CNN reports. CNN noted they interviewed 16 people about allegations against Freeman, some of whom claimed the actor harassed them, and others who said they witnessed inappropriate behavior. Freeman's spokesperson did not respond to CNN's request for comment. The attorney general's office recently cleared Bedford Republican Andy Sanborn of allegations that a Senate intern was paid to keep quiet about an inappropriate comment Sanborn made to him. This week, the office released interview transcripts in which Sanborn was accused of making a second inappropriate comment. Another senator said Sanborn initially refused to complete the training, and that may be why he went for a period without an assigned aide.
In one case, a woman who was his student in 2009 said Manweller touched her leg during a meeting and said, "There's always a way for you to get an A in this class." She understood him to mean that a sexual favor could earn her a positive grade. The woman says she immediately dropped Manweller's class. Manweller denied touching the woman's knee and would never have made that offer, according to the report.
