The Independent - Tech

Apple has released a new app, called Clips, that might have secretly signalled its future ambitions. The app sounds like a piece of fun, and Apple describes it as intended to make it "quick and fun for anyone to create expressive videos on iPhone and iPad". It does that by combining photos and videos into video clips, and letting people share them on Facebook, Instagram or any other social network. But the major feature is what it calls "Live Titles", which are described as "a breakthrough feature that lets users create animated captions and titles using just their voice". MIcrosoft Skype executive Lilian Rincon demonstrated a booking made with a bot from the Westin Hotel in Dublin within Skype. She then showed how the bot could delve into her messages to organise a reunion with a Dublin-based friend. So-called chatbots are not new in customer service.

Mashable

Much like The Force, technology surrounds us, penetrates us and binds together our galaxy, which is why it's so hard to identify which technologies might have the most significant impact in the coming year. What we can count on in 2017 is that a myriad of innovations will arrive. Some will alter our lives with the tectonic force of an earthquake. Other will sneak in quietly and change things in gentle, almost unnoticeable ways. My goal here is to focus on the technologies that will undergo the most significant change and have the biggest impact on our lives.
