Emotions run high as Loyola beats Cathedral 2-1 in soccer

When the game finally ended and Loyola had pulled out a 2-1 victory on a goal off a header from senior Sean Traylor, the emotions came pouring out. While Loyola players hugged and hollered, Cathedral players fell to the ground in stunned silence. Some cried; others knelt trying to deal with defeat in the Southern California Regional Division I semifinal playoff game.


$10 Million Bequest to Fund Loyola New Orleans Scholarships

Loyola on Monday announced the bequest from Maedell Hoover Braud (Broh), who died earlier this year. Braud worked for Loyola from 1948 until 1980 as administrative assistant to the dean of Arts and Sciences. Her gift will establish the Murphy-Braud Scholarship Endowment Funds -- named for her late husband's family.


Volleyball: Loyola beats Mira Costa in the battle for bragging rights in Manhattan Beach

It's Saturday morning, and expect lots of Loyola students who live in Manhattan Beach to be out proudly wearing their Loyola gear after the Cubs knocked off Mira Costa before more than 2,000 fans in a rivalry volleyball match on Friday night at the John Wooden Center. J.P. Reilly, who happens to live in Manhattan Beach, had 15 kills for Loyola. Brady Wedbush contributed eight kills and three blocks. Luke Hardesty had 29 assists.


Haney's 18 Helps Loyola Marymount Hold off San Francisco

Steven Haney scored 18 points and Loyola Marymount held on to defeat San Francisco 53-51 on Thursday night despite making just four of its last eight free throw attempts in the final 30 seconds.
