Prior to Arturo, Moody worked at the Los Alamos National Laboratory on developing data-adaptive algorithms for signal and image processing, feature extraction, classification, and data exploitation across a variety of applications and sensor data, including on-orbit RF, ground RF, multispectral imagery, astrophysics, RGB images and video. She also worked as a staff scientist with Descartes Labs to monitor and report on weather and human food crop health across the Middle East and North Africa to develop an early warning system for impending food shortages. Most recently, Moody served as Chief Technology Officer at Ursa Space Systems developing synthetic aperture radar (SAR) analytics.
Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) is a classical way to do a topic modelling. Topic modeling is a unsupervised learning and the goal is group different document to same "topic". Typical example is clustering a news to corresponding category including "Finance", "Travel", "Sport" etc. Before word embeddings we may use Bag-of-Words in most of the time. However, the world changed after Mikolov et al. introduce word2vec (one of the example of Word Embeddings) in 2013.
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- Former Iowa State basketball star Nikki Moody has sued coach Bill Fennelly, the university and the state for racial discrimination and retaliation, saying she was repeatedly called a "thug" and labeled a selfish player despite being the program's career assists leader. Fennelly, who has been Iowa State's coach since 1995, constantly demeaned, berated, harassed and discriminated against Moody during her time with the Cyclones, according to the lawsuit filed in state district court. Moody, who is black, said the discrimination she suffered led to a "hostile education environment through racial harassment." "Iowa State University has not seen the lawsuit and has no comment," spokesman John McCarroll said. Fennelly is 447-223 with Iowa State -- which regularly ranks among the nation's top teams in home attendance -- and is signed through 2019 after agreeing to a 12-year, 10.6 million contract in 2007.
Amazon's Alexa and other voice-activated assistants are popping up everywhere these days. Alexa's user base, however, is decidedly young: A plurality of Amazon Echo users (24 percent) are between 18 and 29 years old, Forbes recently reported, while 30- to 44-year-olds make up 20 percent of its user base. Scott Moody's five-year old company K4Connect focuses on bringing the latest technologies -- including Alexa -- to senior citizens. It's a largely overlooked market with significant potential, he recently told ZDNet. On top of that, deploying technology for older Americans and observing the way they use it can shed light on what it takes to build a successful product.
