Mastercard announced its extended commitment to the Olympique Lyonnais (OL) women's team by becoming Official Shirt Sponsor for domestic games in the season starting September 2020. The company will also be using their Priceless platform to create memorable moments for fans in a time where typical fandom activities, like attending live games, are less likely. The pandemic has had a ripple effect across the world of sports and entertainment--with the financial impacts affecting women's sports teams more heavily than their male counterparts. Mastercard has doubled down on its commitment to the women's OL team to ensure fans and players have opportunities to connect to their passion of football during these more difficult times. Donation from Mastercard to benefit biometric authentication and advanced technology research

Mastercard has donated £150K which will be used by Professor Ivan Martinovic and his Systems Security Lab in ongoing research relating to various uses of biometric authentication and AR technology. The focus of the latest research project will be on the security and performance analysis of various biometrics authentication methods, especially voice-based biometrics, eye-movement biometrics, and authentication in mixed-reality environments.

MasterCard operates the world's fastest payments processing network, delivering the products and services that make everyday commerce activities--such as shopping, traveling, running a business, and managing finances--easier, more secure, and more efficient. To help financial institutions better evaluate a merchant's credit risk, MasterCard created an anti-fraud solution called MATCH (MasterCard Alert to Control High-risk Merchants). The MATCH database maintains data on hundreds of millions of fraudulent businesses. MasterCard acquirers submit nearly one million inquiries to the database each month. They can search the database for each potential merchant or send MasterCard a bulk file of merchant names to perform a batch search on their behalf.
