'American Ninja Warrior' Season 8's Biggest Obstacle: Compensation For The Athletes

International Business Times

When CircusTrix CEO Lawrence Case was looking for a name to help promote his company's latest extreme obstacle course facility in September, he naturally thought big. But maybe too big -- the local New Orleans NBA player he wanted to help him create some buzz came with a hefty 100,000 price tag. Enter Plan B: Since his Palo Alto-based company builds recreation parks inspired by NBC's "American Ninja Warrior," Case instead turned to Kevin Bull, one of the show's most recognizable contestants. The facility's grand opening proved Case made the right move. "There was a line a half mile out the door of people and kids waiting to meet him," Case told International Business Times.

Microsoft now offers public courses for building AI skills

Engadget

Microsoft has added an AI track to its Professional Program courses. The track is open to the public and is comprised of nine online courses -- each of which take eight to 16 hours to complete -- as well as a final project. "The program provides job-ready skills and real-world experience to engineers and others who are looking to improve their skills in AI and data science through a series of online courses that feature hands-on labs and expert instructors," the company said in a statement. The track features courses focused on AI ethics, how to conduct a data study and building different learning models. Enrollees have three months to complete each separate course and each are offered four times per year.

Hideki Matsuyama ties course record with final-round 61 to win Bridgestone Invtitational

Los Angeles Times

Hideki Matsuyama warmed up poorly and then turned in the best round of his career at the Bridgestone Invitational, a nine-under 61 that tied the course record and gave him another blowout victory in a World Golf Championship. It was the lowest final round in four decades at Firestone Country Club and led to a five-shot victory over Zach Johnson. Matsuyama knew from experience that the course record was a 61 because he was in the same group when Tiger Woods shot 61 in the second round in 2013. All it would take was birdies on the last three holes, and like everything else Sunday, the 25-year-old from Japan made it look easy. "I knew 61 was the number," Matsuyama said through his interpreter.
