There are multiple ways to learn data science, machine learning and deep learning concepts. You can watch videos, read articles, enroll in courses, attend meetups, among other things. I have personally learned a LOT from interacting with data science experts and industry thought leaders. Their experience in managing end-to-end machine learning and deep learning projects, their thinking when building a data science team from scratch, how they managed tough projects and overcame hurdles, etc. – we simply cannot learn all of these in any course. So, I am thrilled to present an exclusive interview with one such data science expert and industry thought leader – Dr. Sunil Kumar Vuppala!
Roorkee: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has launched two online certificate programs in high-demand topics -- Data Science and Machine Learning and Advanced Machine Learning and AI -- on Coursera, one of the world's leading online learning platform. "We are happy to announce two certificate courses in data science, machine learning, and AI in partnership with Coursera. This will enable a large number of aspirants to acquire these relevant areas for their professional growth," said Prof. Ajit K. Chaturvedi, Director, IIT Roorkee IIT Roorkee is among 150 top universities, including Yale, University of Michigan, University of Pennsylvania, and Imperial College of London -- that offer programs on Coursera. "For over 170 years, IIT Roorkee has been a leading Indian institution, known for its rigorous technical programs," said Betty Vandenbosch, Chief Content Officer at Coursera. Officials at the IIT Roorkee say that unlike the current crop of theoretical courses available in the market, these courses give greater emphasis to a lot of hands-on exercises and projects to work on. IIT-R director Professor Ajit K Chaturvedi said, "With this initiative, IIT Roorkee and CloudxLab aim at providing good quality education, on a larger scale, and we hope this endeavour will lead to more skilled workforce in the field of data sciences."
Roorkee: In keeping with the shift towards digitisation that the Covid-19 outbreak has led to, IIT-Roorkee is soon going to launch an online programme on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in banking systems. "Artificial intelligence has the potential to transform banking and improve compliance. The Covid-19 crisis along with growing security and privacy concerns has reinforced the need to leverage new-age skills to tackle emerging challenges," AK Chaturvedi, director of the institute said. The institute is collaborating with WileyNXT, a digital education solutions organisation for the programme. The four-month joint certification programme will train IT professionals and graduates in implementing AI in the banking sector.
