The future of technology and Humanity: a provocative film by Futurist Speaker Gerd Leonhard

This film marks the beginning of a new period for me. How technology is changing humanity, and how we should deal with that, is certain to become the #1 topic for the foreseeable future. "Humanity is changing more in the next 20 years than in the previous 300 years" - this is a quote from the film that pretty much says it all. Going forward, a lot of my work will be dedicated to this challenge/opportunity. Watch this film and please let me know what you think, and please comment or share the film if you enjoy it.

Digital transformation: are you ready for exponential change? Futurist Gerd Leonhard, TFAStudios

Business as usual is dead. Increasingly, science fiction is becoming science fact. Exponential technologies are rapidly changing our lives and societies, every day, everywhere. We will need different skills, and we will need to get much better at driving change - or we will be driven by it. Most importantly, we should embrace technology but not become it.

Vimeo can stream videos in 8K and HDR

A few streaming services have supported colorful high dynamic range video and ultra-high resolutions for a while, but Vimeo is making up for lost time in grand style. The company has added support for both HDR videos and resolutions as high as 8K. You're going to need a very rare 8K display to see footage in its full glory. However, HDR support is considerably broader: you'only' need a device that can play HEVC video using HDR10. Some of Apple's newer devices (including the Apple TV 4K, iPhone X and 2017 iPad Pros) already do, and Vimeo is quick to point out that it's currently the only video hosting service to play HDR on Apple gear.

Matt Mullenweg: Characteristics and Practices of Successful Entrepreneurs

"If someone has those four things -- work ethic, taste, integrity, and curiosity -- I believe that you can learn anything in the world." Matt Mullenweg (@photomatt) is most associated with a tool that powers more than 25% of the entire Web: WordPress. He's also the CEO of Automattic, which is a multi-billion dollar, fully distributed startup. Matt loves tea, tequila, and Chicken McNuggets. His first time on the show went over so well that you've all been asking for a round two.
