A student at Nottingham Trent University has created virtual reality software designed to help people with speech impediments. His software provides exposure therapy, placing users in a variety of scenarios and challenges them to confront social anxieties in VR. According to Mr Walkom, repeated exposure to such situations in a virtual environment can prepare users for anxiety-provoking real-life situations, enabling them to overcome their fears. London hospital's new VR app helps young children undergo MRI scans without needing general anaesthetic

King's College Hospital has created a free virtual reality app designed to ease patients' fears ahead of MRI machine scans. My MRI at King's, which has primarily been built for children, is essentially a simple audiovisual guide that walks patients through the events that will happen on the day. It can be used at home ahead of a scan, and is viewable on a virtual reality headset, such as Google Cardboard. However, users can also explore it on a phone or tablet. Lenovo : to launch an augmented-reality smartphone in China 4-Traders

Lenovo Group Ltd, the world s largest personal computer maker, will launch its augmented-reality-enabled smartphone in October in China, as part of its broad efforts to boost phone sales with innovative products. Yang Yuanqing, CEO and Chairman of the Beijing-based company, said on Saturday the Phab2 Pro, the world s first smartphone to host AR applications without the need of other accessories, will help create new business models by bringing new interactive experience to consumers. The new device, first unveiled in June, is based on Google Inc s Tango project and allows users to play virtual dominoes on a physical table and shoot digital robots that inhabit users living rooms. "Technology innovation and business model innovation are part of the new path for growth," Yang said, adding the company aims to leverage cutting-edge technologies to change the way people live and work. He made the comments at the B20 summit which was held in Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang province on Saturday.

Meet Domgy, an AI pet robot from Beijing startup ROOBO

ROOBO, a fast-growing hardware and AI startup headquartered in Beijing, today unveiled a prototype of its newest product, a "pet robot" called Domgy. For the unfamiliar, ROOBO is the company behind Pudding, a voice-controlled, educational robot for kids. Pudding is used to teach kids vocabulary, geography, jokes and more. The company also makes the Idealens virtual reality headset, Skyseries drone and Runbone earbuds. Since its founding in 2014, ROOBO has grown to 300 employees, with 7 worldwide offices, including one in Seattle.
