Facebook launches feature that automatically spots fake news ahead of UK general election

Facebook has announced new measures for tackling fake news in the UK, ahead of next month's general election. The social network is set to treat the issue like clickbait, using algorithms to crack down on misleading articles. "We've found that if reading an article makes people significantly less likely to share it, that may be a sign that a story has misled people in some way," it said. Ofcom proposes customers should be able to switch mobile providers by text

Mobile phone customers could soon be able to dump their network provider by text. Ofcom says people shouldn't need to make a potentially long and uncomfortable phone call to their operator in order to switch networks, as they currently have to. Research conducted by the regulator also shows that these calls can often be disrupted, causing further stress. US 'likely' to expand electronics ban to UK flights

The US is considering expanding its electronics ban to all flights departing UK and European airports, according to a new report. Passengers travelling to the US would not be able to board a US-bound plane carrying any electronics larger than a mobile phone. Laptops, tablets and cameras would instead need to be checked-in ahead of flights and stored in the cargo hold.
