India to survey the entire country with drones, artificial intelligence and big data- Technology News, Firstpost

#artificialintelligence

India has initiated a project to digitally map the country with a resolution of 10 centimetres, using drones and technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and big data, a senior government official said on Monday. The herculean task was taken up by the Survey of India, part of the Department of Science and Technology, a few months ago and is planned to be completed in two years, the Department's Secretary, Prof Ashutosh Sharma said. "...now we are equipping them (Survey of India) with the latest technologies like drones, Artificial Intelligence, big data analytics, image processing and continuously operated reference system", he told reporters on the sidelines of an event here. Once the project is completed, the data will be available to citizens and to Gram Panchayats and local bodies, empowering them to use it in decision making and planning process. The survey is currently in progress in Karnataka, Haryana, Maharashtra and the Ganga basin.

Educating the Enterprise on AI – Towards Data Science

#artificialintelligence

The biggest impediment to adoption of AI is lack of knowledge. What do enterprise companies and other ecosystem players need to learn? It's easy to say that the promised transformation of every industry by Artificial Intelligence (AI) is exaggerated. The AI buzz extends from an overabundance of business articles (voilá) to the consumer consciousness. Prominent figures in tech and science have gone so far as to express concern about its rapid proliferation.

Business Ecosystems

Communications of the ACM

More and more people are living and working in business ecosystems. We read and talk about the entrepreneurial ecosystem, the e-commerce ecosystem, and the mobility ecosystem. But we do not know enough about the key characteristics of an ecosystem that make it innovative. For some, any cluster that involves multiple types of actors--entrepreneurs, investors, intermediaries such as incubators and accelerators--constitutes an ecosystem. For others, it is a biological metaphor that, when applied to manmade systems, is only partially useful.

Artificial intelligence can transform your business

#artificialintelligence

Artificial intelligence (AI) and a world in which machines threaten humanity's status quo has been the preserve of science fiction for decades. In the Eighties, Terminator was set in a post-apocalyptic world in which cyborgs rule, RoboCop's protagonist was part-man, part-machine and Short Circuit toyed with the idea of robots developing human-like minds, with rather more endearing results. The reality is the bot has bolted. AI is walking and talking among us. In 2016, we use voice-recognition systems, driverless cars are being trialled and robotic hotel receptionists work in Japan.
