LG teases new G6 smartphone for launch ahead of MWC 2017

The Independent - Tech

LG has sent out invitations to an event taking place on 26 February, where it is expected to launch a new flagship smartphone. The company failed to get pulses racing with the experimental G5 last February, and will be hoping to bounce back with a dramatically different follow-up. The image shows fireworks exploding in the night sky, before the tagline, "See More, Play More" appears on-screen. It's a nod to the rumoured LG G6, which will feature a display with an 18:9 aspect ratio, according to ZDNet. Android's new feature instantly connects you to a phone when you internet dies

The Independent - Tech

Google is rolling out a new feature to Android users, designed to keep all of their devices connected to the internet all the time. Instant Tethering takes the hassle out of setting up a mobile hotspot, by automatically detecting when one of your devices loses internet access and prompting you to piggyback off another device associated with your Google account, which does have a mobile data connection. You usually have to enable tethering on one device before using another to connect to it, using a passcode. Sky to let customers watch TV without a satellite dish for the first time

The Independent - Tech

Sky is going to let people watch all of its TV channels without a satellite dish for the first time ever. The company is going to let people watch its full TV service through broadband instead of installing an entire satellite dish on their house. The move is apparently an attempt to stop the rate of "churn" at Sky – how many people join the service and then leave. The announcement came as Sky revealed surging numbers of people leaving to competitors like BT – up to 11.6 per cent from 10.2 per cent last year. Those same results showed a 9 per cent fall in earnings because of the increased price of football rights.

Netflix Android app has a great new downloads feature iPhone users will never see

The Independent - Tech

Netflix has rolled out a significant update to its Android app, allowing users to store downloads on their microSD cards. After months of desperate speculation, Netflix users gained the ability to save TV shows and films for offline viewing towards the end of last year, but there was one downside: users could only save content to their device's onboard storage. That placed a tight restriction on how much content users could download.
