Huawei Kirin 970, Samsung Exynos 9810, and Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 (via its Hexagon DSP) processors all come with NNA or NPU (Neural Processing Unit) to speed up tasks and comsume less power for tasks related to artificial intelligence / machine learning.
Chinese benchmarking outfit Master Lu has now released the list of best mobile chipsets in terms of AI performance for the first half of 2019. The list of combined processors for Q1 2019 was topped by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset, followed by the Snapdragon Apple A12 and the Kirin 980 chipset from Huawei. As is expected, we've got the Snapdragon 855 in the lead, followed by Apple's excellent A12 chip. Yes, you heard that right, MediaTek has managed to get the Helio P90 up there, and it's apparently a pretty great performer when it comes to AI performance. According to Master Lu, while the Helio P90 isn't exactly the most powerful chip around, the AI performance on it is above most other competitors.

Showcasing advancements in smartphone AI here, TL Lee, General Manager, Wireless Communication, MediaTek, told IANS that the company is well aware of the huge mobile handset consumer base. There are nearly 650 million mobile phone users in India and just over 300 million of them have a smartphone, according to Counterpoint Research. "We want to democratise AI. The year has just begun and leaks of upcoming hardware have started pouring in. MediaTek, which is one of the major chip makers besides Qualcomm is expected to introduce two new P-series SoCs this year, according to a report published by GizChina. The two new SoCs from MediaTek, namely the Helio P70 and P40 are both expected to make their way into Xiaomi's full-screen Redmi devices. The leak also suggests that smartphone makers such as Oppo, Vivo, and Gionee will also include the two SoCs respectively on their select devices.
