Yahoo to its users: Hackers could access your emails without a password

Yahoo is warning customers that hackers may have been able to break into their accounts without even stealing their passwords. The attack, which has been attributed to the same "state-sponsored" hackers that were blamed for breaking into over a billion Yahoo accounts last year – the biggest hack in history – was effective between 2015 and 2016. It was first disclosed by the company last year, but users have been receiving notifications about it this week. Millions of Xbox and PlayStation players' personal data has been stolen

Hackers have stolen the login details of 2.5 million PlayStation and Xbox users. The email addresses and passwords of gamers who had been using the unofficial Xbox360 ISO and PSP ISO forums, which players use to share links to download free and pirated versions of games, were exposed by the cybercriminals behind the hack. US charges two 'state-sponsored' Russian spies over Yahoo hack, the biggest cyber attack in the world

The US has charged two Russian spies with the biggest cyber attack ever carried out. The Department of Justice said that two "state-sponsored" Russian hackers were responsible for breaking into Yahoo and stealing 500 million accounts. The case would be the first ever brought against Russian officials. The charge comes amid increasing tensions between Russia and the US over the use cyber weapons and hacking. Multiple US intelligence agencies have accused Russian state-sponsored hackers of running a co-ordinated campaign to upset the result of the US election and increase the chances that Donald Trump would become president.


'Thousands' of MPs and police officers hit by password hack linked to Russia

The passwords of thousands of British politicians, senior police officers and other top officials have been stolen and traded by hackers, it has been reported. The login details of education secretary Justine Greening and business secretary Greg Clark are believed to be some of those that were reportedly exchanged by Russian hackers. The head of IT at the Foreign Office, the director-general of the Department for Exiting the European Union and former detective chief inspector Andy Redwood were also reportedly affected. US charges two Russian government agents with hacking in unprecedented prosecution of Kremlin officials

The US has brought hacking charges against Russian officials for the first time ever. The decision comes as federal officials continue to investigate whether Russian spies interfered with the 2016 presidential election by hacking the Democratic party, among others. The country launched cyber attacks that were calculated to help Donald Trump win the election, it has been claimed by intelligence agencies and some politicians.
