An anonymous reader cites a report on VentureBeat: Nvidia chief executive Jen-Hsun Huang announced that the company has created a new chip, the Tesla P100, with 15 billion transistors, 16GB high-bandwidth memory for deep-learning computing. It's the biggest chip ever made, Huang said. "We decided to go all-in on A.I.," Huang said. "This is the largest FinFET chip that has ever been done." The chip has 15 billion transistors, or three times as much as many processors or graphics chips on the market.

Servers with Nvidia's Tesla P100 GPU will ship next year

PCWorld

Nvidia's fastest GPU yet, the new Tesla P100, will be available in servers next year, the company said. Nvidia is targeting the GPUs at deep-learning systems, in which algorithms aid in the correlation and classification of data. These systems could help self-driving cars, robots and drones identify objects. Two of the world's 10 fastest supercomputers use Nvidia GPUs, according to a list compiled by Top500.org. The Tesla P100 is based on Nvidia's new Pascal architecture.
