Robert Downey Jr. is hosting a YouTube show about artificial intelligence because he is truly Iron Man


In a move straight out of Tony Stark's playbook, Robert Downey Jr. will executive produce and host a new YouTube Red exclusive series about artificial intelligence. The yet-untitled series will feature experts in A.I. and related fields and is set to premiere on the platform in 2019. Susan Downey, Downey's wife and partner in their production company Team Downey, described the show as "a fascinating journey as we explore the exciting developments in the world of A.I. and glimpse into the future" in a release. It sure is nice for YouTube to partner up with RDH and give him a chance to redeem his reputation around artificial intelligence, especially considering what happened last time.

Robert Downey Jr. knows all about artificial intelligence. Okay, fine – he's spent the last decade playing a character who does. Now the once and future Iron Man will have a chance to learn about A.I. up close and personal, because he'll be serving as the host of a new YouTube documentary series devoted to that topic. Deadline reports that Team Downey, the production company run by Robert and his wife/producing partner Susan Downey, has teamed with Network Entertainment and Sonar Entertainment to produce an eight-episode show set to debut on YouTube Premium (formerly YouTube Red) in 2019. Each episode will be an hour long, but the series doesn't have an official title yet.

YouTube is diving into the world of artificial intelligence with its new series pickup. The streamer has given an eight-episode order to an untitled docuseries from Team Downey that will explore the impact of A.I. and how it is transforming the way people live and work, both now and in the future. The hour-long series will feature interviews with people in the fields of science, philosophy, technology, engineering, medicine, futurism, entertainment and the arts. Downey will executive produce the project alongside Team Downey's Susan Downey and Emily Ford. Evan Moore will oversee the project for Team Downey.

One of the shows that YouTube will spend'hundreds of millions' this year to make for its Red premium platform will be a docu-series on AI narrated by Robert Downey, Jr. The star and his wife Susan Downey will both executive produce the untitled show, which will feature experts from across the sciences to explore the history of artificial intelligence -- and how it continues to transform our world. The eight-episode show is scheduled to air on YouTube Red in 2019, according to Variety. While signing Iron Man to host a show on AI is a shrewd move, Red is still catching up to all the other streaming services in the race to score content that will convert subscribers. You can only win so many hearts with shows like John Cena's animated space trucker series.
