The Independent - Tech

WhatsApp is rolling out a new update to iPhone users, which lets them queue up messages when they don't have an internet connection. Previously, WhatsApp for iOS would make users wait to regain web access before allowing them to hit the green send button. The app will now automatically fires off the queued messages as soon as a connection has been re-established. The feature has been available on the Android version of WhatsApp for some time, and comes in particularly handy during train and tube journeys, when signal can be particularly patchy. WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger scam sees people told to pass on message to avoid having to pay

The Independent - Tech

WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger users are being tricked into sending out a message by a scam. The hoax claims that people need to send out a message otherwise theyl'l be forced to pay for each one they send to their friends in future. If they don't copy and paste the post then the apps will presume that they are not an "avid user" and so will move towards charging them, the post claims. But it's entirely untrue and neither Facebook or WhatsApp is moving to charging for messages. Both are expected to remain entirely free – which they need to do, since Facebook's business model is capturing information on its users and then using that to charge advertisers for marketing.

LG has sent out invitations to an event taking place on 26 February, where it is expected to launch a new flagship smartphone. Three makes calling and texting over Wi-Fi easier when customers have no signal

The Independent - Tech

Three has made its Wi-Fi calling service significantly easier to use, which should help customers cut their monthly mobile bills. Previously, users could only take advantage of the feature through Three's additional inTouch app, which delivered a less-than-pleasant user experience. However, customers can now make calls and send texts over a Wi-Fi connection without the app. It's a handy service, allowing users to both save money and stay in touch with friends and family whenever a Wi-Fi network is available, even when signal is poor or non-existent.
