BMW's autonomous concept car of the future was cool, I guess

Mashable

As I approached San Francisco International Airport, my expectations for BMW's new concept car were as big as the looming Boeing 777F Lufthansa cargo jet waiting for me. I had surrendered my cellphone and everything in my purse but my drivers license to see BMW's iNext vehicle. Its tour started in Munich a few days earlier; it came to the Bay Area after a stop at New York's JFK airport, and was scheduled to continue on to Beijing. Sonos has new speaker on the way, official filing suggests

The Independent - Tech

Sonos is working on a brand new speaker that could arrive within weeks, according to new filings. Documents made public by the Federal Communications Commission show a brand new speaker that bring a whole host of features to its existing line-up. But those features remain mostly under wraps: the filing is redacted and so many of the most important are hidden. Clues inside the filings appear to indicate what the speaker could be intended to do, however. The filings, first reported by Variety, identify the new speaker as "S18" and describe it as a voice-controlled speaker that can connect using WiFi or Bluetooth and can be controlled with a host of microphones that listen to their owner.

Samsung Galaxy S8's new AI assistant Bixby wants you to never have to touch your screen again

The Independent - Tech

Samsung has announced Bixby, its artificial intelligence assistant, ahead of the launch of the Galaxy S8. It's expected to be one of the phone's biggest new features, and Samsung hopes it will trigger an enormous shift in user behaviour. As has been rumoured, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8 will have a dedicated Bixby button, which users can push in order to launch the voice assistant. Bixby is designed to make Samsung's devices more "natural and intuitive" to use, according to the company. It will initially only work with a handful of pre-installed apps, but Samsung says it will support almost every task the app is capable of performing, entirely through spoken commands.
