China faces an acute shortage of doctors. Even in China's first-tier cities - Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing, Shenzhen and Tianjin - many Chinese must wait in long lines at hospitals and clinics to receive examinations, diagnosis and treatment. The World Health Organization issued a report in 2016 disclosing that in China, there's a ratio: 1.5 doctors for every 1,000 people, while in the United States, it's 2.4 per 1,000 and in the United Kingdom, 2.8 per 1,000. Apparently, new solutions are required to help Chinese doctors reduce workloads. Hence, Chinese developers of Artificial Intelligence (AI) may have found the answer.

Chinese tech companies City Cloud and SoundAI have successfully raised $30 million and $15 million in separate funding rounds respectively. Cisco Investments and Country Garden Holdings co-led a $30 million (RMB200 million) Series B round in City Cloud International, a Hangzhou-based company focused on cloud computing and Big Data technologies, China Money Network reported. City Cloud disclosed the latest investment during the company's fifth anniversary, along with RMB500 million worth of credit from several banks. The company develops and sells Smart Connected Communities platforms and cloud computing services. It has subsidiaries in Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Chengdu, and Hong Kong.
HONG KONG--Chinese search-engine giant Baidu Inc. Senior Vice President Wang Jing said Friday that the company plans to mass produce a driverless car in five years--so that babies born today won't need a driver's license. Baidu, which is China's largest search-company with 80% market share, is already testing its model on public roads in Beijing and in Wuhu, in China's southeastern Anhui province, and in a closed testing area in Shanghai.
