Why Marketing AI is the Future of Content Marketing

#artificialintelligence

In 2015 my marketing agency, PR 20/20, was struggling to create enough content at scale while maintaining quality, a challenge faced by many marketing organizations. At the same time, advancements in marketing AI (artificial intelligence) convinced me that machine-assisted content could be a possibility in the near future. The big question I couldn't get out of my mind was: Could my company automate and scale our content marketing activities using marketing AI to create greater value for our clients and efficiency for our business? I heard the managing editor of the Associated Press and the CEO of Automated Insights talk about how the AP had automated the creation of its earnings reports using AI, and I knew we had to explore the technology further. As we did, we learned not only how to better automate and scale content creation, but that marketing AI was about to transform content marketing forever.

In our last article, Lifecycle mapping: uncovering rich, predictive data sources, we discussed the importance of mapping out your customer lifecycle to better understand where your most predictive customer data is hiding. Now, we'll pose some questions to help identify your predictive customer attributes and lifecycle events, pinpoint where that data is located, and recognize patterns to predict outcomes for future prospects, leads, and customers. Data discovery is the second stage in the customer lifecycle optimization (CLO) process. The primary task of this stage is to expand on your lifecycle map to identify authoritative data sources that establish progress. At each stage, prospects, leads, and customers will complete certain events that will individually or collectively trigger a transition in or out of that stage.

Acquiring new customers will always be a goal but focusing on retention is key. While many marketers focus on more heavily on acquisition and retention, win back campaigns or email reactivation are just as crucial. We all know how valuable repeat customers are so focusing on inactive customers and getting them to reengage can be a goldmine. Some level of churn is inevitable.
