Google's AI can create better machine-learning code than the researchers who made it

#artificialintelligence

Google's AutoML system recently produced a series of machine-learning codes with higher rates of efficiency than those made by the researchers themselves. In this latest blow to human superiority the robot student has become the self-replicating master.

Growing evidence suggests it's only a matter of time before machine learning systems are targeted by hackers

#artificialintelligence

The latest artificial-intelligence techniques are being adopted by companies at a blistering pace. Before long, hackers might start taking a closer look, too, and they could cause all sorts of trouble by tricking these systems with illusory data. Speaking at a recent AI conference in Barcelona, Spain, Ian Goodfellow, a research scientist at OpenAI who has done pioneering work on deceiving machine-learning systems, said attacking the systems is easy. "Almost anything bad you can think of doing to a machine-learning model can be done right now," he said. "And defending is really, really hard."

OracleVoice: What Does AI Have To Do With Marketing?

#artificialintelligence

As a young brand manager at Miller Brewing Company in 1995, I crunched data using Excel spreadsheets, a process not so far away from what's going on at a lot of companies today, I'd wager. What does AI have to do with marketing--a human-to-human endeavor if there ever was one? Consider this noteworthy bullet point in Gartner's "Top Predictions for IT Organizations and Users for 2016 and Beyond." When most people envision AI, they think of game show-playing computers, self-driving cars, or robot armies. Robotics is at one end of the AI spectrum; at the other is what's referred to as "machine learning," the ability to program a computer to recognize patterns and build models that let it make decisions or generate predictions.
