What's on TV this week: 'Mythic Quest,' 'Jupiter's Legacy' and 'Resident Evil'

This week Resident Evil Village will be released on consoles and PC, with no demo time limits to be seen. Disney unleashed a slew of Star Wars content to celebrate May 4th including its new series The Bad Batch, and Hulu has a new season of Shrill, while HBO Max has added Tenet to its extensive library. For movie fans, Speed and Big Fish are available on Ultra HD Blu-ray, while Netflix is premiering its superhero comic adaptation Jupiter's Legacy. To close out the week, on Saturday night Elon Musk will host SNL which should be interesting no matter which way it goes. As we return for a holiday-shortened week, Disney and HBO Max are dropping in feature films on streaming. For Disney that means family-friendly fare with Raya and the Last Dragon (previously available via Premier Access VOD), while HBO goes the other way with a new movie in the Conjuring series. On Netflix, season five of Canadian sitcom Kim's Convenience is premiering in the US as the show comes to an end, as well as Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal The Movie. For gamers, Virtua Fighter Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown is available on PlayStation as a PS Plus title. What's on TV: 'Friends' reunion, 'Rugrats' and 'Lucifer'

This week HBO Max finally premieres the Friends reunion that has been delayed for a year due to the pandemic, but that isn't the only thing worth watching. Movie fans have a slew of Ultra HD Blu-ray releases to pick from this week, including classics like My Fair Lady and The Birds, as well as newer options like Super 8. On streaming, Paramount kicks off its revival of Rugrats, while Netflix delivers the second half of season five to Lucifer fans. For gamers, MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries will be available via Steam and Xbox Game Pass, while Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn starts its PS5 run. What's on TV: 'Returnal' and 'Yasuke'

This week we're getting a true new-gen exclusive game, as Housemarque's Returnal arrives for the PlayStation 5. Players will become an astronaut fighting to survive on an alien planet and failing, over and over again. It's supposed to take advantage of the console's 3D audio effects, so we'll check that one out once it drops. For a more subdued gaming experience, Pokémon Snap is back with a new version on the Switch. On streaming platforms there's a lot to look forward to. Amazon Prime wraps up the first season of its animated superhero series, Invincible, and premieres a new Tom Clancy flick starring Michael B. Jordan, Without Remorse.


What's on TV: 'Loki,' 'Ratchet & Clank' and 'FFVII: Advent Children'

This week the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes back into view as the premiere of Loki arrives on Disney streaming, but remember -- now Disney MCU shows will premiere on Wednesday, not Friday. The NBA and NHL playoffs are in full swing, and sports fans can also observe the Olympic trials as US hopefuls compete in disciplines like swimming and diving. For gamers the focus is on a rare PS5 exclusive title with Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, as well as Nintendo's new Game Builder Garage for Switch players. Finally, Netflix drops the second half of season one for its French heist show Lupin.
