It's an exciting day here at our Inspire conference in Nashville, where 5,000 Alteryx fans have come together to learn more about changing the world through analytics and data science. One of the best parts of my job is delighting customers with exciting new features that empower them to do their jobs better and answer world-altering questions. Today, I had the privilege to talk about the modern analytics journey and announced new features that amplify the capabilities of analysts and citizen data scientists. An important step in the journey is bridging the skill set gap between data science and analytics, and it's a key mission of Alteryx. As I talk to citizen data scientists around the world, I hear people wanting to break free from barriers like formal education.
Alteryx today unveiled an Assisted Modeling tool that promises to make it simpler to create models based on machine learning algorithms using the company's namesake analytics software. Announced at the company's Inspire U.S. 2019 conference, Ashley Kramer, senior vice president of product management at Alteryx, says the beta release of the Assisted Modeling tool represents company's latest effort to provide end users with access to augmented analytics that reduce the level of expertise require to create advanced analytics. At the same time, Alteryx announced the 2019 edition of Alteryx Platform now includes an option to employ a familiar spreadsheet interface to interrogate data in addition to tools that foster collaboration and make it easier to centrally collect data. Kramer says the Assisted Modeling tool is designed to appeal to end users of any analytics level. It guides end users through how to construct machine learning models, understand how and why their models work, and then capture modeling decisions in a way that results in actionable intelligence.
Recognizing the pervasivetalent gapthat exists between data scientists and data workers in the line of business, Assisted Modeling helps teach data science with a guided walk-through and aims to help all data workers, regardless of technical acumen, advance their skill sets in the process of building machine learning models. Our approach in building Assisted Modeling is to advance the skills of the data worker, creating next-level citizen data scientists capable of building the machine learning models required to tackle the advanced analytic challenges of the future. Assisted Modeling provides users the transparency and control needed to build trustworthy machine learning models that drive business outcomes without writing a line of code. As an output of the application, users can access code-free machine learning tools directly within the Alteryx Designer interface. Assisted Modeling allows any data worker to construct machine learning models, understand how and why their models work, and capture modeling decisions, turning raw data into informed business decisions with unprecedented speed and confidence.
"I see the citizen data scientists as this emerging group," she said in an interview. "They don't have a degree in data science but they're more advanced than your average analyst. They are people with advanced capabilities like writing scripts within Excel. They are starting to get to that next level of being able to create predictive analytics. They need a little bit of help because they're not programmers."
Deep down inside, you know your worth! You recognize that there's only one of you on this big blue marble, and there's no one exactly like you. Oh, maybe you get a little down sometimes, worried about the world around us; but that DNA is yours alone; and it's special. You can, and will, succeed in the brave new world of machine learning and artificial intelligence. You'll solve challenges that are interesting for you, and valuable for those around you.
