Apple might have larger plans in store for future AirPods beyond water resistance. Bloomberg sources claim that a higher-end version of the totally wireless earbuds could arrive "as early as" 2019 with noise cancellation and longer wireless range in addition to protection against rain and sweat. There's no mention of whether or not there would be an audio quality boost at the same time, but you at least wouldn't have to endure unwanted noises from the outside world. The upgrade this year was already rumored to include a new wireless chip and hands-free Siri commands. And of course, Apple hasn't been shy about promising an AirPods case with wireless charging through a mat like the company's upcoming AirPower.
Apple has unveiled its highly-anticipated AirPods Pro earbuds that feature Noise Cancellation and immersive sound functionality. Users can choose from three different sizes for a more personalized fit that boast a flexible silicone ear tips that conforms to the contours of each individual ear. AirPods Pro can be ordered on the tech giant's website for $249 – almost $60 more than its predecessor Hints of Apple's AirPods Pro earbuds surfaced earlier this month when Guilherme Rambo with 9to5Mac who was combing through the iOS 13.2 looking for any hidden secrets. Rambo found the icon tucked away in accessibility settings, which he said suggest the new AirPods will work similar to hearing aids – and the image was very close to the truth. The redesigned AirPods features Active Noise Cancellation and superior, immersive sound in an all-new lightweight, in-ear design.
Apple's AirPods Pro finally appear to have cracked the $199 price barrier. Amazon is selling the true wireless earbuds for $194, an all-time low and well below the official $250 sticker. It's not certain how long this will last, so you might want to act quickly if you're looking for buds to soundtrack your workouts or tune out the world. The positives and caveats still apply. These are the best-sounding Apple earbuds, and they offer a considerably better fit (with water resistance, no less) than regular AirPods.
