Of late there have been innumerable technological advancements which have transformed peoples' lives and led to entirely new products and services. In healthcare, technological innovations such mobile apps, wearables, and chatbots have helped people to be in-charge of their health. Today they have become more health savvy. From microscopes in the past to adoption of electronic medical records, technology has driven the success of healthcare in many ways. Though there are many drivers of technology, the emergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has led to applications which are now having a profound impact on peoples' lives. With its ability to process data in a speedy fashion, AI is revolutionizing the healthcare sector world over. According to experts, AI will be a key enabler for both the transformation and the disruption of the healthcare ecosystem.

It's true that artificial intelligence holds potential for application in practically every field today. There is one field, though, that particularly stands out. That is medicine or healthcare field. If you take a broad look at medicine field, you'll find that there is a huge nexus of people at play here. There are doctors, patients, administrative staff at clinics and hospitals, insurance companies, and so many other people.

Duke Students Have Developed a Robotic Nursing Assistant

Robots have already proved their utility in space, cruising landscapes no human could--or should--explore on foot. But they may come in handy in dangerous locations here on Earth, too. Students and staff at Duke University's School of Engineering and School of Nursing have collaborated on a two-armed robot they've dubbed the Tele-Robotic Intelligent Nursing Assistant (TRINA, for short). The robot was designed to assist nurses in high-risk healthcare situations, according to The Chronicle, the university's student newspaper. The robot nursing assistant, which features a tablet that shows the face of its human operator, was created in response to the Ebola outbreak in 2014.

All about choosing AI tools for Healthcare Organizations

Akin to other industries, the healthcare sector is also undergoing the process of embracing artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, which provides a potential revolution in operations, patient care, and security. Creators of AI tools focus on AI and machine learning to leverage these technologies to improve the healthcare and other realms. The datasets of the healthcare sector are relatively smaller when compared to other consumer and business applications. Unlike AI tools of other sectors, healthcare AI tools depend on data sets having orders of magnitude much smaller and therefore demands AI developers to possess a deeper understanding of the data and industry knowledge since data interpretation and coding mistakes are amplified in smaller data sets. Additionally, the real world applicability should be a priority.
