JIAN, China – For nearly two decades, small-time smugglers worked the secret trails and quiet river crossings of the China-North Korea border, helping knit North Korea to the outside world by bringing in everything from food to South Korean soap operas.

Prosecutors said he traveled to Thailand in 1985 to arrange for the purchase of about 6,500 pounds (2,950 kilograms) of marijuana. They also accused him of involvement in trying to get another load of more than 40,000 pounds (18,150 kilograms) of marijuana into California.

The officers, including special forces, seized large amounts of cash, gold, fake documents and computers from flats and offices in Hamburg, Bremen and the states of Saxony-Anhalt and Lower Saxony. They also discovered at least 35 foreigners residing in Germany illegally.

The Ministry of Defence has released footage of a gang caught using a drone to deliver contraband to prisons. He's been sentenced to an extra 7 years and 2 months in jail.

Serbian Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic says the "criminal group" arrested Wednesday is suspected of smuggling more than 200 migrants for a fee of 250 euros ($270) each "over a long period of time."
