A nurse who died with Covid-19 inspired nearly her entire family to join the NHS. Linda Obiageli Udeagbala, from Croydon, died aged 60 earlier this month, after 17 years working for the health service. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Francis, a psychiatric nurse, and five adult children: Cheyrinne, a midwife, Angelica, a paediatric nurse, Gerard and Colin, who are both mental health nurses and Marvin, who is self-employed.
Across America and around the world, nurses are delivering excellent care. It is a nurse who is holding the phone as a family member is saying goodbye to a patient that they can't even see. It's the nurse who will be in that room when the ventilator is withdrawn. And it is a nurse who will be bathing the body of that patient and calling that family to comfort them after the death. Nurses are really the predominant work force across all settings of care for every population impacted by this disease.
St. Vincent Hospital nurses and the hospital management team will start talking again on Monday, returning to the bargaining table for the first round of negotiations since the Worcester nurses launched their strike eight weeks ago. The 800 nurses have been on strike since March 8 as they continue to battle Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare over better staffing measures. A federal mediator scheduled the new round of negotiations as Tenet plans to present an "adjustment" to its most recent proposal, Saint Vincent Hospital CEO Carolyn Jackson said Sunday. "It would be great if they agree to what we put on the table," Jackson said of the nurses who are with the Massachusetts Nurses Association. If the nurses don't say yes to the adjustments, then Jackson hopes they would present a "solid counterproposal" so the two sides can quickly reach a deal.

Ahead of National Nurses Week 2018, which kicks off May 6 and ends May 12, we've compiled a list of five places where nurses can get freebies and discounts. Here's what you need to know: Cinnabon is giving away free sweet treats to nurses during the celebration. The company has partnered with the DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune System) Foundation, which is aiming to recognize the exceptional work that nurses do for patients and families. "All nurses are invited to enjoy a free Cinnabon cinnamon roll at participating bakeries during Nurses Week, an annual event to remind nurses of how sweet and special they are," the foundation writes.
Dramatic video shows a nurse being attacked on the Chicago Transit Authority Red Line by a man whom witnesses say was ranting about the coronavirus pandemic. Video captured on the Chicago Transit Authority Red Line showed a nurse being attacked by a man, whom witnesses claimed was ranting about the coronavirus. Fellow passenger Katrice Hardaway recorded the exchange on her cellphone. The man in the recording stood over the nurse, shouting at him about health care workers and blaming them for the pandemic. The nurse supposedly tried to convince the man to leave him alone, with Hardaway hitting the panic button on the train as the situation grew more severe.
