The 15 million renovation is a time capsule of mid-20th century Americana. The newly renovated wing showcases key moments from the Nixon administration. Iconic photos, like this one of the 37th president and rock-and-roll legend Elvis Presley, abound. The newly reopened library and museum showcase Richard Nixon's personal history as well.

The Richard Nixon Foundation announced that Edward Nixon died Wednesday at a nursing facility in Bothell, Washington, a Seattle suburb. A geologist and Navy Veteran, Edward Nixon worked on his brother's 1968 and 1972 White House campaigns and served as co-chairman of the Nixon re-election committee in 1972. Richard Nixon's daughters, Tricia Nixon Cox and Julie Nixon Eisenhower, called their uncle "our family's rock" since the former president died in 1994. Edward Nixon was the fifth and youngest son of Frank and Hannah Nixon and had been the last surviving brother of the former president.

The former president's daughters, Tricia Nixon Cox and Julie Nixon Eisenhower, remembered their uncle as "our family's rock." "He was a source of guidance to our father, whose favorite little Eddie grew up into a renowned geologist with an infectious curiosity," the daughters said in a statement. "He was always thinking, always working -- never for his own benefit, but to uncover the answers to questions that science poses in our world."

It is not a surprise, then, that this zealous supporter of the imperial presidency once questioned the most famous judicial incursion on presidential independence of modern history. On Sunday, the Associated Press' Mark Sherman reported that, in 1999, Kavanaugh expressed reservations about the Supreme Court's decision in United States v. Nixon, the Nixon tapes case. Maybe, he mused, "Nixon was wrongly decided" because it "took away the power of the president to control information in the executive branch." Later in his career, after he had emerged as a possible Supreme Court candidate, Kavanaugh seemed to reverse course.
