AIHub

Artificial Intelligence (AI) promises to impact our everyday lives. Empowering everyone to learn about AI, and how it's used, will be instrumental to making sure the benefits are shared more broadly across society. Our content is free, high-quality, fair and impartial. AIhub monthly digest: March 2021

AIHub

Welcome to our March 2021 monthly digest. Our digests are designed to keep you up-to-date with the latest happenings in the AI world. You can catch up with any AIhub stories you may have missed, get the low-down on recent conferences, and generally immerse yourself in all things AI. This month, our attention turned to education, and we considered both the use of AI in teaching, and the teaching of AI. Carles Sierra wrote about team formation techniques in education, describing how AI methods can be used to facilitate collaborative learning.

AIhub monthly digest: February 2021

AIHub

Welcome to the second of our monthly digests, designed to keep you up-to-date with the happenings in the AI world. You can catch up with any AIhub stories you may have missed, get the low-down on recent conferences, and generally immerse yourself in all things AI. You may be aware that we are running a focus series on the UN sustainable development goals (SDG). Each month we tackle a different SDG and cover some of the AI research linked to that particular goal. In February it was the turn of climate action.

ClovaCall: Korean Goal-Oriented Dialog Speech Corpus for Automatic Speech Recognition of Contact Centers

arXiv.org Machine Learning

Automatic speech recognition (ASR) via call is essential for various applications, including AI for contact center (AICC) services. Despite the advancement of ASR, however, most publicly available call-based speech corpora such as Switchboard are old-fashioned. Also, most existing call corpora are in English and mainly focus on open domain dialog or general scenarios such as audiobooks. Here we introduce a new large-scale Korean call-based speech corpus under a goal-oriented dialog scenario from more than 11,000 people, i.e., ClovaCall corpus. ClovaCall includes approximately 60,000 pairs of a short sentence and its corresponding spoken utterance in a restaurant reservation domain. We validate the effectiveness of our dataset with intensive experiments using two standard ASR models. Furthermore, we release our ClovaCall dataset and baseline source codes to be available via https://github.com/ClovaAI/ClovaCall.
