The Curse of the Pharaohs DLC for Assassin's Creed: Origins is Assassin's Creed at its best

PCWorld

Curse of the Pharaohs took me by surprise. I didn't really think twice about putting it off--usually Assassin's Creed DLC is filler, an indulgence I save for the quieter parts of the year. It's an excuse to jump back in for 5 or 10 hours, and in the case of Assassin's Creed: Origins I planned to spend some extra time mopping up side content I'd skipped. I played through it recently though and quickly found out Curse of the Pharaohs is legitimately fantastic. Set four years after the main game, Curse of the Pharaohs sends Bayek up the Nile to the ancient city of Thebes and the nearby Valley of the Kings.

Assassin's Creed creators pledge €500,000 to Notre Dame

The Guardian

Video game creators at Ubisoft Montréal – the development studio that rebuilt 18th-century Paris in its 2014 historical action game Assassin's Creed Unity – have joined the global outpouring of grief in the wake of Monday's devastating fire at Notre Dame Cathedral. Ubisoft will be donating €500,000 to help with restoration efforts, and is also making Assassin's Creed Unity available free on PC for the next week, "giving everyone the chance to experience the majesty and beauty of Notre Dame the best way we know how", said a studio spokesperson. "We hope, with this small gesture, we can provide everyone an opportunity to appreciate our virtual homage to this monumental piece of architecture." Caroline Miousse, a level artist on the game, spent 14 months working almost exclusively on the cathedral, inside and out. It is furnished and decorated as it would have been in 1790, down to the paintings hanging on the walls.

Hitman Go: An assassin game that dials down the violence

Washington Post - Technology News

Hitman Go is a mobile interpretation of the popular assassin video game series Hitman. Like its source material, it requires players to use wit and skill to take out their targets without getting caught. Unlike the original game, players don't inhabit the body of the assassin protagonist -- instead, they move pieces around on a board-game-like map. It literally gives you a different perspective on the situation. When you successfully take out a target, it moves to the side of the board.
