The best Black Friday tech deals we could find

Engadget

Black Friday is officially upon us. If you're shocked, don't worry -- so are we. It's surprisingly partially because that means November is almost over, but even more so because we've been living through weeks of on-and-off tech deals already. But today we're seeing some new deals (and some stellar returning sales) that are worth your time and money if you have yet to pick up everything on your list -- or just want something nice for yourself. Here are the best tech deals we could find for Black Friday.

The best TV deals we could find for Black Friday

Engadget

Aside from the weeks leading up to the big game, the Black Friday shopping period is arguably the best time of year to buy a new TV. Whether you're looking for your first OLED set or a budget-friendly smart TV, you'll find many options at cheaper-than-usual prices at Amazon, Best Buy and other retailers. TVs from LG, Sony, Samsung, TCL and others have been discounted this year -- and it's worth noting that while we highlight certain sizes here, you'll likely find that if one size is on sale, other sizes in the same lineup will also be discounted. And if you're not looking to upgrade your TV, there's a bunch of other home theater equipment on sale right now too, including streaming devices, soundbars and more. Here are the best TV deals, along with the best home theater sales, we could find for Black Friday.

The best Black Friday tech deals that are already available

Engadget

While we've had weeks of early Black Friday deals already, Thanksgiving has brought additional sales, some of which we expect to continue through Black Friday proper. This has been a trend for the past few years -- if you happen to be online and searching for Black Friday deals a few hours before the day arrives, you can expect at least a handful of solid early sales. And that strategy may pay off this year even more than others as supply chain issues continue to push back shipping estimates. The sooner you grab the items on your gift list, the better the chance they'll arrive on time. To make your search a bit easier, we gathered the best early Black Friday tech deals we could find here.

Roku devices are back on sale at Amazon, including the Streambar for $99

Engadget

Last month, we saw a number of Roku streaming devices receive big discounts on Amazon -- including the Roku Streambar, which went down to $99. Now that sale is back, making it a good time for those who missed it last time to snag an updated streaming gadget. The Roku Streambar is back down to $99, or 24 percent off its normal price, while the Streaming Stick and the Express 4K are down to $40 and $29, respectively. If you have an older TV in your home or a smart TV with software that you're not a huge fan of, Roku's Streambar can revamp your system when it comes to audio as well as streaming. It earned a score of 86 from us thanks to its compact size -- it'll easily fit into almost any setup -- solid audio quality with Dolby Atmos support and its built-in 4K HDR streaming tech.

Labor Day TV sales knock hundreds off LG and Sony OLED sets

Engadget

Labor Day is another good time of the year to pick up a new TV. While not as rife with sales as Black Friday or even the weeks leading up to the Super Bowl, this holiday weekend still has TV deals worth considering. Plenty of 4K smart TVs have been discounted across Amazon, Best Buy and other sites, but those who are looking for an OLED set will find a number of new models discounted by hundreds. Here are all of the best Labor Day TV sales we could find. One of Sony's premium OLED TVs, the 55-inch Bravia XR A80J set, is down to $1,700 at Amazon and Best Buy, or $600 off its normal price. It packs most of Sony's best TV technology into one set, including the Cognitive Processor XR, HDMI 2.1 support, 4K upscaling, XR Motion Clarity and improved sound with Acoustic Surface Audio and built-in subwoofers.
