How AI and Data Could Personalize Higher Education

#artificialintelligence

Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming and improving the ways that industries like healthcare, banking, energy, and retail operate. However, there is one industry in particular that offers incredible potential for the application of AI technologies: education. The opportunities -- and challenges -- that the introduction of artificial intelligence could bring to higher education are significant. Today's colleges and universities face a wide range of challenges, including disengaged students, high dropout rates, and the ineffectiveness of a traditional "one-size-fits-all" approach to education. But when big data analytics and artificial intelligence are used correctly, personalized learning experiences can be created, which may in turn help to resolve some of these challenges.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) in schools: are you ready for it? Let's talk

#artificialintelligence

Interest in the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in schools is growing. More educators are participating in important conversations about it as understanding develops around how AI will impact the work of teachers and schools. In this post I want to add to the conversation by raising some issues and putting forward some questions that I believe are critical. To begin I want to suggest a definition of the term'Artificial Intelligence' or AI as it is commonly known. What do we mean by'Artificial Intelligence'?

25 Best Artificial Intelligence Colleges Successful Student

#artificialintelligence

Successful Student has compiled the 25 Best Artificial Intelligence Colleges in the United States. Artificial Intelligence (AI), also known as machine learning, is a discipline within computer science. Artificial Intelligence is usually conceived of as doing more than just computing numbers (such as a calculator), but is more conceptual in nature (such as describing subjective qualities, or giving meanings to different contexts). An example of AI would be speech recognition and communicating, such as Apple's Siri, or Amazon's Alexa. Amazon has announced three new AI tools for anyone wanting to build apps on Amazon Web Services: Amazon Lex, Amazon Polly, and Amazon Rekognition. According to Amazon "This frees developers to focus on defining and building an entirely new generation of apps that can see, hear, speak, understand, and interact with the world around them." For those interested in developing apps, see our 20 Best App Development Colleges article. Google, Facebook, Amazon, Apple and Microsoft are all working on AI. Facebook's FAIR (Facebook Artificial Intelligence Research) program engages with academia to assist in solving long term problems in AI. Facebook is hiring AI experts around the world to assist in their project.

How To Use Artificial Intelligence In Education

#artificialintelligence

Artificial Intelligence in education seems to have a bright future. It is because of the helpful nature of AI technology, which also helps us take perfect pictures, automatically park cars, and so on. AI is moving towards becoming a soothing and helpful non-human companion for us. AI startup funding by venture capitalists has skyrocketed six times since 2000, according to Adobe. Artificial Intelligence is considered as the most crucial element required to build digital transformation solutions for the future.

HOW ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE USED IN EDUCATION?

#artificialintelligence

Governments and institutions are facing the new demands of a rapidly changing society. Among many significant trends, some facts should be considered (Silverstein, 2006): (1) the increment of number and type of students; and (2) the limitations imposed by educational costs and course schedules. About the former, the need of a continuous update of knowledge and competences in an evolving work environment requires life-long learning solutions. An increasing number of young adults are returning to classrooms in order to finish their graduate degrees or attend postgraduate programs to achieve an specialization on a certain domain. About the later, due to the emergence of new types of students, budget constraints and schedule conflicts appear.
