That moment when you realize you're exchanging emails with a robot

#artificialintelligence

Next time you schedule a meeting and an assistant named Amy or Andrew Ingram sets up the logistics, here's a pro tip: You may be chatting with a robot. And if it's one of x.ai's bots, you might never know the difference. That was my experience when I exchanged emails with "Andrew" to set up an interview with x.ai's CEO. After I emailed x.ai's press contact, she referred me to Andrew to hammer out the details. Andrew proposed a time, thanked me when I accepted and sent out a calendar invitation.

Training on Artificial Intelligence : Neural Network & Fuzzy Logic Fundamental

#artificialintelligence

Artificial Intelligence (AI) may be regarded as an attempt to understand the processes of perception and reasoning that underlie successful problem solving and to incorporate the result of this research in effective computer programs. At present, AI is largely a collection of sophisticated programming technique that seek to develop systems that attempt to mimic human intelligence without claiming an understanding of the underlying processes involved. Artificial Intelligence (AI) can offer may advantages over traditional methods, such as statistical analysis, particularly where the data exhibits some form of non-linearity. Some existing application of spatial analysis and modeling techniques includes artificial neural networks and rule-based system fuzzy logic . Neural Network are biologically inspired and it is based on a loose analogy of the presumed working of a brain.

DARPA's latest idea could put today's Turing-era computers at risk

PCWorld

The U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has come up with some crazy ideas in the past, and its latest idea is to create computers that are always learning and adapting, much like humans. Mobile devices, computers, and gadgets already have artificial intelligence features, with notable examples being Apple's Siri, Microsoft's Cortana, and Amazon's Alexa. But these devices can only learn and draw conclusions within the scope of information pre-programmed into systems. Existing machine-learning techniques don't allow computers to think outside the box, so to speak, or think dynamically based on the situations and circumstances. The goal of a new DARPA project is to create computers that think like biological entities and are continually learning.

Microsoft, Nvidia work to speed up AI platform powering Cortana

PCWorld

Thanks to artificial intelligence, we have autonomous cars, chat bots, and speech recognition. Microsoft's CNTK (Cognitive Toolkit) is one among many platforms that trains computers to learn, and it's getting an upgrade. CNTK drives the Microsoft services Cortana and Skype language translation, and it boasts more than 90 percent accuracy in speech recognition tasks. Microsoft will soon release an upgraded CNTK toolkit, and one hardware maker wants to ensure the toolkit works best on its hardware. Nvidia is partnering with Microsoft to optimize its GPU development tools for CNTK.

Samsung Galaxy S8 latest: New AI assistant Bixby to speak eight languages

The Independent

New details about Bixby, the Samsung Galaxy S8's AI assistant, have emerged ahead of the phone's unveiling next month. The virtual helper will support up to eight languages at launch, including English, Korean and Chinese, according to SamMobile. That pushes it out in front of Google Assistant, which supports English and German on the Pixel phone, as well as Hindi, Japanese and Portuguese through the controversial Allo messaging app. However, both trail some way behind Apple's Siri, which supports over 20 different languages.
