About this course: This course gives you a complete insight into the modern design of digital systems fundamentals from an eminently practical point of view. Unlike other more "classic" digital circuits courses, our interest focuses more on the system than on the electronics that support it. This approach will allow us to lay the foundation for the design of complex digital systems. You will learn a set of design methodologies and will use a set of (educational-oriented) computer-aided-design tools (CAD) that will allow you not only to design small and medium size circuits, but also to access to higher level courses covering so exciting topics as application specific integrated circuits (ASICs) design or computer architecture, to give just two examples. Course topics are complemented with the design of a simple processor, introduced as a transversal example of a complex digital system.
Reasoning with limited computational resources (such as time or memory) is an important problem, in particular in cognitive embedded systems. Classical logic is usually considered inappropriate for this purpose as no guarantees regarding deadlines can be made. One of the more interesting approaches to address this problem is built around the concept of active logics. Although a step in the right direction, active logics still do not offer the ultimate solution. Our work is based on the assumption that Labeled Deductive Systems offer appropriate metamathematical methodology to study the problem. As a first step, we have shown that the LDS-based approach is strictly more expressive than active logics. We have also implemented a prototype automatic theorem prover for LDS-based systems.
Welcome to the Alchemy system! Alchemy is a software package providing a series of algorithms for statistical relational learning and probabilistic logic inference, based on the Markov logic representation. Alchemy Lite is a software package for inference in Tractable Markov Logic (TML), the first tractable first-order probabilistic logic. Alchemy Lite allows for fast, exact inference for models formulated in TML. Alchemy Lite can be used in batch or interactive mode.
