The Impact Of AI On Call Centres

#artificialintelligence

The pandemic is a severe stress test for the business continuity plans of global corporations. The operators of call centres are playing an important role in meeting that challenge, and it has not been easy. In normal times, if an earthquake hits Bangalore, you can switch capacity to your call centre in Manila. But what do you do when all the call centres around the world that serve your customers are hit – all at the same time? The big outsourcing call centre companies which serve corporate giants have hundreds of thousands of employees, and many of these people are working from home now.

Amazon makes Contact Lens generally available

#artificialintelligence

Last December during its re:Invent 2019 conference in Las Vegas, Amazon unveiled Contact Lens, a virtual call center product for Amazon Connect that transcribes calls while simultaneously assessing them. After a monthslong preview, Contact Lens today launched in general availability in the US East (N. Virginia), US West (Oregon), EU (Frankfurt), EU (London), Asia Pacific (Singapore), Asia Pacific (Sydney), and Asia Pacific (Tokyo) Amazon Web Services (AWS) regions, with rollouts in additional regions to come later this year. As customer representatives are increasingly ordered to work from home in Manila, the U.S., and elsewhere, companies including John Hancock, Capital One, Intuit, GE, Square, Fujitsu, and Dow Jones are turning to AI solutions like Contact Lens to bridge gaps in service. The solutions aren't perfect -- there's always going to be a need for human teams, even where chatbots are deployed -- but COVID-19 has accelerated the need for AI-powered contact center messaging.

Fortinet Introduces self-learning Artificial Intelligence Appliance for Sub-Second Threat Detection – The Manila Times

#artificialintelligence

Fortinet (NASDAQ: FTNT), a global leader in broad, integrated and automated cybersecurity solutions, announced FortiAI, a first-of-its-kind on-premises appliance that leverages self-learning Deep Neural Networks (DNN) to speed threat remediation and handle time consuming, manual security analyst tasks. FortiAI's Virtual Security Analyst embeds one of the industry's most mature cybersecurity artificial intelligence – developed by Fortinet's FortiGuard Labs – directly into an organization's network to deliver sub-second detection of advanced threats. While traditional cyber threats continue, sophistication of advanced attacks – often enabled by artificial intelligence, machine learning and open source communities – are increasing. As a result, organizations and their defenses are challenged to keep pace with threat evolution. Millions of new applications, growing cloud adoption and the increase in connected devices are creating billions of edges that security teams need to properly protect and manage.

Coronavirus is prompting companies to adopt AI call center solutions

#artificialintelligence

As the continued spread of COVID-19 disrupts workplaces and travel plans around the globe, customer service centers are experiencing an unprecedented uptick in overall call volume. This week, travelers looking to modify their itineraries with Canadian airline WestJet experienced waits in excess of 10 hours. Banks and credit card companies, including Capital One, are seeing longer-than-average hold times, with some customers reporting disconnections. And Google warned Google Store customers to expect "longer than usual" wait times as a result of precautionary health measures that have the company operating with a limited team. As customer representatives are increasingly ordered to work from home in Manila, the U.S., and elsewhere, some companies are turning to AI to bridge the resulting gaps in service.

Japan's health care sector still a magnet for Filipinos

The Japan Times

MANILA – Job opportunities in Japan's health industry continue to attract Filipinos a decade since it started accepting candidate nurses and caregivers under a bilateral economic agreement. Earlier this month, a new group of Filipino health workers who aspire to work as nurses and caregivers here began preparatory training in the Japanese language and culture in two centers in Manila. The 341 applicants comprise the 12th batch of candidate nurses and caregivers under the Japan-Philippines Economic Partnership Agreement forged in 2008. Japan accepted the first batch of Filipino health workers in 2009. And I think I will broaden my experience and learn more there.

How to Implement Pix2Pix GAN Models From Scratch With Keras

#artificialintelligence

The Pix2Pix GAN is a generator model for performing image-to-image translation trained on paired examples. For example, the model can be used to translate images of daytime to nighttime, or from sketches of products like shoes to photographs of products. The benefit of the Pix2Pix model is that compared to other GANs for conditional image generation, it is relatively simple and capable of generating large high-quality images across a variety of image translation tasks. The model is very impressive but has an architecture that appears somewhat complicated to implement for beginners. In this tutorial, you will discover how to implement the Pix2Pix GAN architecture from scratch using the Keras deep learning framework. Discover how to develop DCGANs, conditional GANs, Pix2Pix, CycleGANs, and more with Keras in my new GANs book, with 29 step-by-step tutorials and full source code. Students show how AI can predict airline delays, drug vulnerability

#artificialintelligence

MANILA, Philippines – How can artificial intelligence (AI) solve real-world problems? Students of Asian Institute of Management's (AIM) Master of Science in Data Science program presented 16 different answers to this question on Friday, August 23. The students showed their peers, industry experts, and members of the media how they can predict whether an airline will be delayed at the Ninoy Aquino National Airport, which Filipino youth are more susceptible to drug use, and more. The 16 project topics ranged from tools for language education, poverty prediction, and healthcare to tools for businesses like debt collection and stock market and foreign exchange prediction. Each group of 3 or 4 students spoke for 4 minutes on the projects that they worked on for 6 months.

Harnessing AI, machine learning tools The Manila Times

#artificialintelligence

Over the last few years, organizations have been building development operations (DevOps) teams to improve application development for the cloud and to enhance business agility. This trend is seeing a sharp rise especially in APAC markets, according to a Forrester report, DevOps is gaining momentum in markets such as Japan, China, India, South Korea and Singapore, as businesses believe it is key to catching up with the digital transformation wave and improve their business. Digital transformation being a journey, organizations strive to build sustenance and have a seamless business continuity, but DevOps teams often find lack of transparency due to disparate tools and data impeding this objective. This calls for a continuously evolving system with application of logic and reasoning (AIOps) in identifying and fixing problems. The value of AI, machine learning Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the recent times show the value, automation could bring to business processes and decision-making.

Philippine firms asked to embrace artificial intelligence

#artificialintelligence

Companies in the Philippines need to adopt technologies like automation and artificial intelligence to get rid of repetitive and redundant processes, a partner of business advisory firm Grant Thornton says. Grant Thornton partner Depender Kumar Depender Kumar, in his presentation during the 8th P&A Grant Thornton Business Forum in Manila, says Philippine companies, including business process outsourcing providers, are slow to embrace automation and struggle to change. "To be honest, if they [BPOs] don't change the way they do things, they will pay locally for the disruption. Most of what is done by the BPOs are repetitive. You don't need a lot of intelligence to do the work that is with you.
